Heights Elementary School
Pittsburg Unified School District
The need of a newer energy-efficient facility drove the need for a new building. To provide a solution in a short period, the District has accepted re-using one of Aedis designs built in the past. The perfect fit was a Spanish style two-story building housing over 20 regular classrooms, four kindergarten classroom, a pre-kindergarten classroom, two special education classrooms, a science classroom, two computer labs, a library with resource offices, a multi-use with platform and warming kitchen and all the support spaces for administration and teachers.
Without any interim housing, the new two-story building was built on the upper side of the campus without disrupting the school functions. Students were housed in the new facility within 12 months.
